Biographical Sketch for
Pastor Derek
Derek Morris currently serves as senior pastor of
the Forest Lake Church in Apopka, Florida. His sermons are viewed
worldwide via streaming video and heard on a weekly radio broadcast,
Message of Hope. He teaches preaching courses for Andrews University
and Southern Adventist University, and presents preaching workshops
for pastors around the world. His greatest joy is found in helping
people to experience a life-changing encounter with the Lord Jesus
Christ. He has completed a Doctor of Ministry in Practical Theology
from Andrews University and a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He has published extensively
in MINISTRY magazine, particularly in regards to effective biblical
preaching. His most recent publication is a book entitled Powerful
Biblical Preaching.
Derek is married to Bodil Chen Morris, a family nurse
practitioner. They have two sons, Christopher, a dental student
at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, and Jonathan, a nursing
student at Southern Adventist University. Derek's favorite hobby
is writing Scripture songs with his wife Bodil. Their music ministry

which are heard on over 140 Christian radio stations nationwide.
